Yuri Alberto is targeting back-to-back goals as Corinthians visit Botafogo on Sunday at 16:00 at Estádio Nilton Santos in the 16th round of the Brasileirão.
According to Meu Timao, the occasion could be significant for the number nine after his winner against Barra on Thursday at Neo Química Arena, in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil fifth phase, which ended a nine-match drought.
He has not scored in consecutive outings since late January, when he struck in a 1-1 draw with Santos then sealed a 1-0 win over Velo Clube, both in the Campeonato Paulista first phase.
Since then he has three further goals, two against Flamengo, one in the Supercopa do Brasil and another in the Brasileirão, plus one in the Libertadores opener against Platense, but none came consecutively.
Before that January run, his previous back-to-back effort came between September and October last season, scoring in a 2-1 defeat to Flamengo then again in a 3-0 win over Mirassol, both in the league.
Now approaching four years at Corinthians, he has said he wants to play in Europe as early as mid-year, so the coming fixtures could yet be his last for the club.
Corinthians are 15th in the table and looking to pull clear of the lower reaches. Coach Fernando Diniz will again lean on his number nine to chase points on the road.
