A new chapter of controversy's erupted in Egyptian football after Zamalek SC’s legal team accused Al Ahly of illegally inciting midfielder Ahmed Mostafa Zizo to abandon the team during critical stage of the season.

Legal Clash at the EFA

During an official Egyptian Football Association EFA Players Status Committee hearing on Monday, Zamalek representatives alleged that Al Ahly played role in encouraging Zizo to walk away from the club amid unresolved financial dispute.

Zizo'd earlier filed formal complaint demanding EGP 82 million in unpaid dues, in addition to bonuses from the Egypt cup. Zamalek responded by filing counter complaint accusing the player of violating his contract.

Escalation Between Rivals

This marks the 1st time Zamalek's openly accused Al Ahly of direct involvement in player rebellion escalating the already tense rivalry between Egypt’s 2 biggest clubs.

According to Zamalek’s defense, Al Ahly allegedly urged Zizo to leave before 2 key fixtures:

  1. The CAF Confederation cup quarterfinal
  2. The Egypt cup final

A move they described as "unlawful interference".

Next Hearing Scheduled

The EFA's postponed the verdict on Zizo’s financial claim to 11 Aug after Zamalek requested additional time to respond to the case’s legal arguments.
