Inter haven’t officialized it yet, but Javier Zanetti confirmed that Yann Aurel Bisseck will put to paper on his renewal as rumored in recent days. The vice president spoke about the agreement in the past tense during a charity event organized by the Fondazione SoStegno70. He spoke with Cronache di Spogliatoio (via OneFootball).
“We extended his contract because he got acclimated perfectly into the our world and matured as a man and as a player.”
According to Calciomercato, Inter and the Bisseck camp agreed to a one-year extension, pushing the expiration date to 2029. He will double his wages from €750k to €1.5M. He’ll close the gap with his teammates but will stay one of the least-paid players on the squad. Despite not being a starter, he has appeared in 11 matches so far. He recently had one of his best showings since coming to Italy against Arsenal.
Zanetti also came to the defense of Lautaro Martinez, who improved his numbers as of late but is way behind schedule compared to last season. He had already bagged 14 goals after 12 rounds in 2023/2024. He’s at 6 currently.
“We know that he’s in a moment where he can’t do some things as well as in the past. However, his value on off and the pitch is uncommon. Stretches like this happen, especially to strikers. I can say that, after winning the World Cup and the Copa America, he’s become even more of a captain in his soul.”
Zanetti also weighed in on Davide Frattesi and his irregular playing time.
