Zenit show interest in Corinthians right-back Matheuzinho, no offer lodged | OneFootball

According to Meu Timao, Zenit are interested in Corinthians right-back Matheuzinho, but no formal offer has arrived. The 25-year-old is under contract until 31 December 2028.

It has been suggested that talks could open after the World Cup.

In January, Corinthians turned down a bid worth seven million euros, around R$ 43 million, from a European club for Matheuzinho. The refusal followed a board policy to value players by the price they want for their share.

In February, football executive Marcelo Paz acknowledged the need to sell players mid-year amid the club's finances. The 2026 budget targets R$ 151 million from player sales, plus Fifa solidarity and other federative rights.

Matheuzinho joined in early 2024, with Corinthians paying four million euros for 60 per cent of his economic rights to Flamengo. Flamengo retain 32 per cent and Londrina hold eight per cent.

He became first-choice on the right after Fagner left, initially on loan then permanently to Cruzeiro from 2025. He has 135 appearances, five goals and 10 assists, and has won the Paulistão 2025, Copa do Brasil 2025 and Supercopa do Brasil 2026.

This season he has faced competition from Pedro Milans, who arrived on a free after leaving Peñarol. He has stayed in the team, featuring in 25 of 30 matches.

He will be an option for Fernando Diniz on Sunday when Corinthians host São Paulo at 18:30 at Neo Química Arena, in the 15th round of the Brasileirão.
