Inter midfielder Piotr Zielinski suffered a serious calf injury in his short cameo against Monza. He has been diagnosed with a muscular distraction of the left gastrocnemius muscle, the team announced. He’ll likely be out for at least a month and a half, Sky reports.

The 30-year-old hasn’t been a full-time starter, he has appeared in 33 matches this campaign, scoring twice and providing three assists. Davide Frattesi and Kristjan Asllani will pick up the slack behind the starters while he recovers.

The injury situation at Inter slightly improved over the weekend thanks to the return of Carlos Augusto, who came off the bench versus Monza. They now have a real left wing-back to lean on, as Federico Dimarco, Nicola Zalewski, and Marco Darmian are all on the shelf. Alessandro Bastoni adapted to the position with decent results in the last couple of games. None of their other injured players is expected back for the Atalanta tilt over the weekend.

Simone Inzaghi is plotting to rotate a little ahead of such a clash versus Feyenoord. They’ll be able to manage a two-goal lead in the return leg. Lautaro Martinez was spotted massaging his thigh at the end of the meeting with the Brianzoli. He and Stefan De Vrij trained on the side Monday and could be spared at least initially on Tuesday. Mehdi Taremi and Marcus Thuram played limited minutes versus the Biancorossi and should be in the XI midweek.

Hakan Calhanoglu could also begin on the bench as Inter take on the Dutch side, while Yann Sommer could make his return on goal playing with a special brace to protect his injured thumb.
