How was the match?

Manchester City dominated Exeter from the start. In the 12th minute, Haaland tried to finish, was blocked by the defense, and on the rebound Khusanov set up Max Alleyne, who sent it into the back of the net.

At 24 minutes, Semenyo tried from outside the box, couldn’t score, but Rodri was there for the rebound to extend the lead. The third goal came at 42 minutes, when Cherki took a corner, the ball deflected off the defense and ended up as an own goal. In stoppage time, Fitzwater tried to clear a cross from McAidoo but ended up scoring another own goal for City, closing the first half at 4-0.

In the second half, City kept up the pressure. Just three minutes in, Semenyo crossed to Rico Lewis, who scored the fifth. Shortly after, in the eighth minute, Semenyo scored his first goal in a City shirt, finishing one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

The rout continued at 25 minutes, when Reijnders hit a shot from outside the box. Nico O’Reilly and Ryan McAidoo scored City’s eighth and ninth goals. Exeter’s only goal came at the end of the second half: George Birch found the top corner to score a consolation goal. Rico Lewis scored his second of the match a minute later, sealing the rout.
