Leeds have suffered a pre-window setback, with Como viewing target Martin Baturina as unsellable, according to Tutto Mercato Web.
The 49ers are drawing up January plans as 1 January approaches, with several targets in play. Leeds are set to bid for Sevilla’s Ruben Vargas, and an approach has been made for Joshua Zirkzee amid his Manchester United struggles.
Baturina has started only two Serie A matches this season and joined Como from Dinamo Zagreb in June for £21m. Leeds have made a move, according to Fabrizio Romano. The report adds that Como see a bedding-in period as normal and have no intention of offloading the 22-year-old.
That stance means Leeds may have to pivot quickly to avoid wasting time strengthening Daniel Farke’s squad in a notoriously difficult window.
Attention could shift to Vargas, with Spanish outlet OrgulloBiri suggesting a £17m bid would tempt Sevilla, helping them reinforce other areas amid financial constraints. The Switzerland international is close friends with Noah Okafor and said in 2022 he would love to play alongside him.
