Another setback for a Senegalese starlet

Misfortune continues to haunt Senegalese prodigy Papa Amadou Diallo, the electrifying Norwich City winger, just months before the kickoff of the 2026 World Cup.
According to the English press, the Saint-Louis native has suffered yet another muscular injury, which will force him to spend a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
It's a real blow for the former Génération Foot academy player, who already missed the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025) due to this very same muscular injury.
Barring a dramatic turnaround, the 21-year-old is not expected to be included in the extended squad of Pape Thiaw, the Lions' head coach, for the 2026 World Cup.
Breaking through with Génération Foot, he moved to France in 2023 to join FC Metz. In 53 matches for Les Grenats, he scored 9 goals and provided 6 assists.
During the last transfer window, he signed with Norwich for a hefty fee of 5 million euros. He managed to play just 11 games across all competitions, contributing 4 assists.
A Senegalese international with 7 caps, he has found the net twice for the national team—against DR Congo and Madagascar.
