Manchester City swept aside Liverpool yesterday at the Etihad Stadium with a 3-nil win over the Premier League champions. Pep Guardiola’s side dominated the first half before putting in a strong defensive performance in the second half to pick up a precious three points. A host of City players played well against Liverpool yesterday but Jeremy Doku was by far and away the best player on the pitch yesterday. He put in a performance for the ages in what was arguably the best performance of his City career yesterday in a massive win for his team.
When Jeremy Doku is at his best he is unplayable. The Belgian international is the perfect blend of speed, power, and dribbling prowess when he is on his game. Doku is still developing the consistency in his game to become an elite winger. Yesterday against Liverpool Doku put in a virtuoso performance which showed just how good he can be when he is on his game.
Jeremy Doku tormented Conor Bradley throughout yesterday’s match. His pace and power were too much for the Liverpool right-back. Doku was at the heart of most of Manchester City’s better attacking moves yesterday. Playing on the left wing, and drifting centrally he gave the Liverpool defence nightmares. His goal in the 63rd minute was a fine reward for Doku’s dazzling display. But his overall performance was about so much more than his goal.
Jeremy Doku attempted 10 take-ons yesterday and completed 7 of those. His dynamic winger play kept Conor Bradley on the back foot in yesterday’s match. Doku won 11 duels as his strength was a standout feature of his game. The Belgian international had three shots with all three on target and he created 3 chances yesterday. One of those was the penalty he won in the first half of yesterday’s match. It was a superb display from Doku and while the stats tell part of the story, every time he was on the ball you could see the fear he struck into the Liverpool defence. By the time Doku was taken off in the 73rd minute he’d done his job and set his team on their way to a valuable win.
Jeremy Doku put in a performance for the ages in Manchester City’s 3-nil win over Liverpool yesterday. His performance was arguably the best of his Manchester City career. Jeremy Doku has taken a step up this season and if he can build on his impressive performance yesterday he could become the winger he’s always seemed destined to become this season. Doku has all of the necessary attributes to become an elite winger and he looks to on the path to become exactly that based on his performance against Arne Slot’s side at the Etihad.
