Achraf Hakimi will miss PSG’s Champions League semi-final return at Bayern Munich next Wednesday at 21:00 after a right thigh injury, with Warren Zaïre-Emery likely to deputise. The club said an MRI showed a lesion and estimated a two to three week absence.
He went down in the 89th minute of Tuesday’s 5-4 first leg after a challenge on Konrad Laimer, clutching the back of his right thigh. With substitution windows used, Luis Enrique kept him high to protect the defence and pin the Austrian.
Initial feelings on Wednesday morning were encouraging, but tests later confirmed it was more serious than cramp. He should be available if PSG reach the final on 30 May in Budapest, and his World Cup participation is not in doubt.
PSG also lost Lucas Chevalier to a right thigh lesion, he will spend several weeks in treatment.
In Hakimi’s long winter absence between 4 November 2025 and 28 January 2026, caused by a left ankle sprain then the Africa Cup of Nations, Zaïre-Emery filled in convincingly.
If Zaïre-Emery moves to right-back, someone must join Vitinha and Joao Neves. Fabian Ruiz disappointed against Bayern and lacks rhythm after three months out with a left kneecap fissure. He should gain minutes against Lorient on Saturday at 17:00.
Other options include Lucas Beraldo as holding midfielder, though doubts persist about his off-the-ball work at this intensity. Luis Enrique could also drop Désiré Doué into midfield behind Kvaratskhelia, Dembélé and Barcola, as seen in Ligue 1.
