After Lennart Karl, four new attacking talents come into focus. The Bayern Campus once again provides hope

For years, FC Bayern’s youth academy was seen as a problem child. Despite the €70 million campus, breakthroughs remained rare, with home-grown talents such as Jamal Musiala, Josip Stanisic and Aleksandar Pavlovic the exception rather than the rule. However, the picture has changed noticeably of late with Lennart Karl. The 17-year-old became the high-flyer of the first half of the season under Vincent Kompany, scoring six goals, setting up two more and seeing his market value explode to €60 million. Internally, there is growing hope that Karl is just the beginning

Campus manager Jochen Sauer sums up the new spirit of optimism. Lennart Karl is currently the most important role model for all talented players, he explained recently. At the same time, he sees several players who also have the potential to make the step up to the pros. There are some exciting names lying dormant at the Campus, particularly in attack

Yll Gashi: The goal scorer with three options

Yll Gashi is one of the most prolific strikers on the Bayern campus. Since his transfer from Hertha BSC in 2022, the now 17-year-old has been scoring goals in quick succession. In 64 competitive matches for the youth team, he has scored 42 goals and provided 14 assists, and unofficially he is even said to have broken the 100-goal mark. Gashi is also in demand internationally. He is currently playing for the German youth teams, but two other associations, Kosovo and Albania, are vying for his attention. Both offer the prospect of the senior national team – and even a possible participation in the World Cup. For Gashi, the national team question could become a decision of direction in the coming months

Bastian Assomo: The Bayern forward edge

Bastian Assomo is only 15 years old, but already has the profile of a classic centre-forward. Around 1.90 metres tall, physically present and extremely assertive – a type of player that Munich have been looking for for a long time. His path led him from the Reinickendorfer Füchse via Hertha BSC to Bayern in the summer, where he immediately confirmed the hype: eight goals in eight U17 games, including a treble at the start of the season. Assomo also scores regularly for the DFB. The question is not whether he will stand out – but when he will be allowed to take the next step

Wisdom Mike: pace, technique and professional minutes

Wisdom Mike is no longer a stranger to the campus. The winger came to Munich from Mönchengladbach at the age of 13, a transfer that caused controversy at the time. It paid off in sporting terms. Mike impresses with pace, two-footedness and finishing power. In the pre-season alone, he scored 22 goals and set up seven more. Vincent Kompany put his trust in him early on and has already given him several starts in the Bundesliga, stressing that these are not just show appearances. The contract extension until 2027 and the planned professional contract from 2026 underline how high the expectations are for him

Maycon Cardozo: The unusual path to becoming a Bayern jewel

Maycon Cardozo not only has a special story in terms of soccer, but also biographically. As the son of a former Brazilian professional, he grew up in Thailand and made the leap to the campus via the FC Bayern World Squad. There, the technically strong attacking player impressed so much that he was given a permanent contract in the spring. Cardozo is a top performer in the U19s, has recently been allowed to train regularly with the professionals and is also attracting attention off the pitch. Hundreds of thousands of followers on social networks follow his path – even though he has not yet played a single professional minute

FC Bayern has been waiting a long time for new faces from its own youth ranks. With Lennart Karl leading the way and talents such as Gashi, Assomo, Mike and Cardozo, there is growing hope that the campus will finally deliver what it was once built for: players who can make the leap to the very top.
