Aitana Bonmatí crowned world's best player once again

Neither the titles of Arsenal nor England could prevent Aitana Bonmatí from remaining at the pinnacle of women's football.
For the third consecutive year, the Spanish forward from Barcelona was named the best player in the world t the Ballon d'Or awards by France Football.
Bonmatí surpassed her compatriot Mariona Caldentey, who plays for the Gunners and finished in second place. As a runner-up in Europe for both Barcelona and Spain, Bonmatí scored 19 goals and provided 14 assists during the assessed period. She had previously been named the best player in the world by both FIFA and France Football in 2023 and 2024.
The award, which considers the performance of the athletes from 1st August 2025 to 2nd August 2025, featured seven players from Arsenal, champions of the Champions League and runners-up in the English Championship.
Among the Brazilians, veteran Marta, who shined in the Copa América final with two decisive goals, was the highest-ranked, at 12th. Amanda Gutierres, from Palmeiras, was ranked 21st.
