Ajax acquire promising defender from Auxerre | OneFootball

Ajax have signed 17-year-old Marvyn Muzungu. The teenage talent joins from Auxerre’s youth academy and will play for Jong Ajax.

Muzungu reportedly attracted considerable interest from other clubs, but the defender opted for Ajax. “With Marvyn, we’re bringing in a physically strong defender who plays very well defensively. He possesses excellent football vision and an eye for the space behind the opponent’s defense,” said football director Marijn Beuker via Ajax channels.

“Marvyn is a left-footed defender with excellent kicking technique and can exploit these spaces with dangerous cross passes. With his physical condition and technical ability, I’m convinced he’ll be a valuable asset.”

Muzungu himself said, “I chose Ajax because it’s a big club with a lot of history, the best club in the Netherlands. The plan presented to me, I could only say yes. This is the best club for my further training and development.”
