Andreas Brehme passed away a few months ago and will always remain in the memories of the Nerazzurri fans, especially on what would have been his birthday. Today, he would have turned 64 years old.
He was a man and a champion who made history at Inter and in the game generally. A dynamic and highly technical player with excellent defensive qualities, Brehme embodied the the evolution of the modern full-back: he defended and attacked, all the while displaying determination and talent. When he arrived in 1988, no one could have imagined the extent of the impact he'd make, with the German entering the hearts of the fans and becoming a key figure for that Inter team. With twelve goals in 154 appearances in Nerazzurri colours, he was an era-defining player, revolutionising the left flank and entertaining supporters with his masterful left foot that made him a lethal set-piece taker.
Andy was one of the stars of the record-breaking Inter side that, in 1989, won the Scudetto and remains one of the Nerazzurri's most-loved teams. He also won the UEFA Cup and Supercoppa Italiana with Inter, making a significant contribution to both those triumphs.
