The Lasses found themselves 2-0 down at half time to Southampton Women, which prompted manager Becky Langley into a triple change at the break. That saw Andrews, Rachel Furness, and debutant Emily Murphy enter the game.

Just over 45 minutes later, United's number 17 smashed home from close range to register her fourth goal of the campaign and rescue yet another late point against the Saints, and Andrews tried to put into words what went through her head moments before scoring.

"All I could think was 'I'm going to smash this'," Andrews admitted. "I think all of the anger I may have had inside of me just came out in that one shot and I was absolutely buzzing to see it go in.

"There was a lot of relief when I scored because I always just want to help the team as much as I can.

"Whether that be as an impact player off the bench or getting the nod to start, I feel as though I can bring so much to the team, and I'll always keep pushing myself to show that on the pitch."

It's now three away games in a row that United have scored a goal in second-half added time, which is a testament to the never-say-die attitude Langley has instilled into her squad - as well as the quality available to come off the bench.

Newcastle are now on a four-game unbeaten run in the Barclays Women's Championship. In all those games, the Lasses have faced adversity, but Andrews was keen to highlight their desire to fight.

"I'm so proud of this team for never giving up and continuing to push on because it does get tiring out there on such a big pitch," she admitted.

"Becky just wanted us (the three half-time substitutes) to bring some energy to the game, be more direct, and try to create some more chances, and I think that's exactly what we did.

"That's the whole point of having a big squad; it's not just about the starting XI, it's about having people who can come off the bench and make an impact."

Langley's side remain in seventh place but could have jumped up two spots with a win on the road, and despite such a late equaliser, that's all Andrews had on her mind.

Having hit the woodwork on multiple occasions throughout the game, the Birmingham-born attacker always felt an equaliser was coming, even deep into added time.

"I don't know why, but I just had a feeling that someone was going to score and get the equaliser," she told newcastleunited.com.

"We were dominating them and the ball very rarely left their half, and we just needed to be a bit more clinical and finish our chances. But given the circumstances, we'll take the point.

"Once I scored, I just wanted to get the ball back and try to score the winner. I wasn't bothered by who it would be; I was just desperate to score that third goal.

"I think if we'd played for just a few more minutes, we'd have found the winner because all the momentum and confidence was with us."
