Our FC Red Bull Salzburg women face their next big challenge on Friday. At 19:30 CEST, Laura Spinn & Co. will go away to face FK Austria Vienna, previously unbeaten ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga leaders.
With five wins from as many matches and a goal difference of 15-0 – Austria have kicked off the new season with a veritable roar, boasting not only the best defence, but also the most goal-hungry attack in the Austrian top flight. Last Sunday, the Violets swept away their UEFA Women's Champions League disappointment with a 7-0 victory at Südburgenland/Hartberg – a few days after they narrowly lost to the favorites from Paris FC to miss out on the league stage.
Coach Dusan Pavlovic has been forced to get creative in preparing for the upcoming big match, with five players (Sara Grabovac, Julia Grünwald, Valentina Illinger, Tina Krassnig and Greta Spinn) traveling with the U19 national team until Thursday. Of course, our team doesn't want to use this as an excuse as they seek to end their three-match winless run. You can follow along as usual on ÖFB TV to see how we get on.
We have another top team awaiting us in Austria Vienna. Their quality and consistency speaks for itself. Our aim is clear: we want to play boldly and give it our all. Games like these are very important to us because we will grow from them – regardless of the result.
