The Gunners announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.
Slegers took interim charge of Arsenal in October 2024 following former boss Jonas Eidevall’s sacking. She helped the team recover from a patchy start to the season, going on an 11-match unbeaten run before landing the job on a permanent basis last January.
After being appointed permanent head coach, Slegers continued to impress. Arsenal finished in second place in last season’s Barclays Women’s Super League while they won the UEFA Women’s Champions League, European club football’s top prize.
Slegers has made a great start to life as Arsenal head coach and she will now remain in role for another three-and-a-half years after penning a new deal.
After signing on again with The Gunners, Slegers said “From playing in the academy and being in the stands watching Arsenal win the Champions League in 2007, to living it with our players, staff and supporters last summer, I’m immensely proud to have shared this journey with Arsenal, a club that means so much to me and to so many people.
“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract here, as I believe we have so much to achieve together – this season and in the years to come. I’d like to show my gratitude to our supporters for the incredible backing you give us, whether it’s at Emirates Stadium, Meadow Park or on the road. We hear it, we see it and we feel it every day.”
Arsenal return to action following the winter break when they face Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow.
