Arsenal have made a good start to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, winning five matches, drawing against Manchester City, and only losing to Liverpool.

As a result, the Gunners sit first in the table after seven games, but there’s obviously a long, long way to go before anything is decided.

Yet former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira believes that after a summer of investment in the squad, his old team now have the tools to go the distance in a title race.

“The Premier League is really competitive,” Vieira began. “I think Arteta made a really strong statement by bringing those players (new signings), I think on the field so far they’re doing really good games.

Arsenal did push Manchester City hard in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 campaigns, but it’s fair to say that wasn’t the case last season. Though the Gunners did finish second in the table, Liverpool somewhat walked to the trophy in the end.

The early signs are that Mikel Arteta’s side are ready to return to the fight this season, perhaps finally going one further and ending their wait for a Premier League title. The summer signings will certainly be key, bolstering a number of positions in the lineup.

But with just 18% of the season played, Arsenal need to start putting a run together to have any hope of remaining in contention come May.
