Arsenal have reportedly made a surprise move for Brentford midfielder Christian Nørgaard.
That's according to The Athletic's David Ornstein, who reports on Wednesday that the Gunners have lodged an £11m bid for the 31-year-old Dane, and currently await Brentford's response.
Nørgaard is seen as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey, who, unless there is a change of plan, is set to leave the club when his contract expires on 30 June.
Martín Zubimendi is also expected to move to the Emirates Stadium from Real Sociedad this summer, but further midfield reinforcements are needed, with Jorginho also having already left to join Flamengo.
Nørgaard has been a key player for Brentford since joining from Fiorentina in 2019, and has so far made 192 appearances for the Bees in all competitions, scoring 13 goals.
