Süper Lig club Konyaspor are considering a move for Sunderland defender Arthur Masuaku this summer, with Yeni Açık reporting the 32-year-old has been identified as a potential target.

The DR Congo international returned to English football last summer, signing from Beşiktaş after an earlier stint with West Ham United in the Premier League.

Brought in to add experience on the left of Régis Le Bris’ squad, Masuaku struggled for regular minutes. He joined RC Lens on loan in January and saw out the 25-26 campaign in Ligue 1. His longer-term status on Wearside appears uncertain as Sunderland reshape for Premier League, Europa League and domestic cups.

Reinildo Mandava is among Le Bris’ established options at left-back. Aji Alese and Leo Hjelde can also provide cover on that flank, though whether both are ready for Premier League action remains to be seen.

Sunderland are expected to consider suitable offers for players unlikely to feature regularly, with outgoing business important under Premier League and UEFA squad cost regulations. Masuaku’s experience in Türkiye with Beşiktaş could make him an appealing option for Konyaspor as they weigh defensive additions.
