Aston Villa are monitoring Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes as Unai Emery weighs up attacking additions for the summer window.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 28-year-old features on Villa’s shortlist, with the club needing to tread carefully to remain compliant with Uefa’s financial fair play rules.

Barnes has delivered a strong campaign despite the Magpies’ difficulties, scoring 16 goals in all competitions.

The one-time Albion loanee, from Leicester, is understood to be open to a move if talks progress. Any fee could be a hurdle, with Newcastle expected to seek up to £40million for a player under contract for another two years.
