Aston Villa will be aiming to build on their recent revival on Sunday when they host a struggling Burnley side at Villa Park.
Unai Emery’s team secured their first league win of the season last weekend and are now unbeaten in three games across all competitions. Burnley, in contrast, are winless in four and find themselves in the relegation zone, making this a crucial clash for both sides.
Unai Emery faces an anxious wait over the fitness of goalkeeper Emi Martínez, who is a doubt with a calf injury. The manager is also without the injured Tyrone Mings, while several midfielders are also doubts. Marco Bizot is on standby to continue in goal after keeping a clean sheet in midweek.
Burnley have no new injury concerns for their upcoming match, but they remain without the injured trio of Zeki Amdouni, Jordan Beyer, and Connor Roberts. Captain Josh Cullen is expected to control the game from midfield, while the attack is likely to be led by Lyle Foster.
Villa’s form has turned a corner with a league win over Fulham and a Europa League victory in the past week. Their home form has been formidable over the last year, with only one defeat in that time. Furthermore, they are unbeaten in their last 16 league games against newly-promoted sides.
The Clarets are in a difficult run of form, winless in their last four and sitting 18th in the table. Their defence has struggled to adapt to the top flight, having already conceded 13 goals. They also have a dreadful away record, losing their last four on the road in the Premier League.
Aston Villa predicted XI: Bizot; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; McGinn, Kamara; Guessand, Buendia, Rogers; Watkins
Burnley predicted XI: Dubravka; Walker, Esteve, Ekdal, Laurent, Hartman; Larsen, Florentino, Cullen, Anthony; Foster
The match will be broadcast live in the United Kingdom on the Sky Sports+ channel.
