Burnley travel to Villa Park on Sunday for a crucial clash against a fellow struggling side, desperate for a result to halt a four-match winless run.
Scott Parker’s team find themselves in the relegation zone. In particular, their poor defensive record is a major cause for concern ahead of a difficult away trip.
The Clarets’ defence has struggled to cope with the step up to the Premier League. They have already conceded 13 goals—just three fewer than in their entire 46-game Championship-winning season last year. Consequently, they face a huge task against a Villa side that has an excellent home record and a long unbeaten streak against promoted teams.
Burnley arrive at Villa Park with no fresh injury concerns from their last outing. However, manager Scott Parker will still be unable to call upon Zeki Amdouni (knee), Jordan Beyer (hamstring), and Connor Roberts (knee), who all remain sidelined.
Captain Josh Cullen will assume the role of chief playmaker from central midfield, with the team looking to him to provide the creative spark in the final third. The attack is expected to feature Lyle Foster as the central striker, alongside the dangerous Jaidon Anthony, who has been in excellent form with four goals in his first six games of the season.
Burnley predicted XI: Dubravka; Walker, Esteve, Ekdal, Laurent, Hartman; Larsen, Florentino, Cullen, Anthony; Foster
The Premier League fixture will be played at Villa Park on Sunday, 5 October 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 2:00 pm BST.
