Unai Simón again proved decisive for Athletic in Vallecas, making key saves as Williams later levelled from a Berenguer header and Galarreta went off with a shoulder dislocation.

He parried an Espino drive early, then after another stop Lejuene's header struck the post inside nine minutes. He held Álvaro García's header. Berenguer replaced Unai Gómez in minute 46, headed the assist for Williams and tried one from the edge. Williams had earlier drawn a booking for Isi. Gorosabel entered in minute 72, while Vesga for Jauregizar and Selton for Sancet arrived in minute 85, and Guruzeta grafted without end product.
