Atlético eyeing double Tottenham transfer swoop | OneFootball

The brass at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have set their sights on the signatures of two members of the first-team ranks at Tottenham Hotspur.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing The Times, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

Diego Simeone, it is understood, has identified two areas of his squad as being in need of reinforcement with a view to next season.

The positions in question? Central defence, and central midfield.

Amid an ongoing scouring of the European market, the Atlético transfer team, in turn, have circled the names of two members of Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham squad in red.

As per MD:

‘According to The Times, Atlético Madrid have shown strong interest in Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur, causing deep concern among Tottenham ‘s board of directors.’

Diego Simeone is understood to be a keen admirer of both players, of the opinion that they would add much-needed quality and depth to his squad.

A significant financial outlay, though, would no doubt be required for Atlético to strike a deal with their Spurs counterparts.
