Attack and defence click as Corinthians thrash Mirassol in the Brasileiro

On the night of this Saturday, 4, Corinthians returned to the field for the Brazilian Championship. In a match at the Neo Química Arena for the 27th round of the national competition, the Alvinegro hosted Mirassol, and with a secure performance in defense and efficient in attack, thrashed by 3 x 0 in front of 38 thousand fans in Itaquera. The goals were scored by Maycon, Yuri Alberto, and André.

With the result, the club from Parque São Jorge temporarily moves up to the tenth position in the national tournament, with 33 points gained, adding eight victories, nine draws, and ten losses, in addition to 29 goals scored and 32 conceded. This position in the table, however, is not yet definitive, as the round will be completed this Sunday, 5, with six more games.

Corinthians' lineup and absences

The technical commission had the following absences for the match: defender André Ramalho (strain in the right hamstring), midfielder Charles (in transition after right knee pain), midfielder André Carrillo (recovering from ligament injury in the left ankle) and Rodrigo Garro (grade 2 calf injury). Coach Dorival Júnior was absent due to suspension.

In view of this, assistant Lucas Silvestre took to the field with: Hugo Souza; Matheuzinho, João Pedro, Gustavo Henrique and Matheus Bidu; Raniele, José Martínez, Breno Bidon and Maycon; Gui Negão and Yuri Alberto.

The substitutes had the following options: FFelipe Longo, Félix Torres, Cacá, Fabrizio Angileri, Hugo Farias, Ryan, André, Dieguinho, Kayke, Ángel Romero, Memphis Depay, and Vitinho.

Mirassol's lineup

Coach Rafael Guanaes lined up Mirassol as follows: Walter; Lucas Ramon, João Victor, Jemmes, Reinaldo, José Aldo, Danielzinho, Guilherme, Negueba, Carlos Eduardo, and Cristian.

Refereeing

The referee was Felipe Fernandes de Lima, assisted by Felipe Alan Costa de Oliveira and Anderson José de Moraes Coelho on the flags. The fourth referee was Murilo Tarrega Victor, and the VAR was in charge of Márcio Henrique de Gois.

First half

Right in the first minute, Mirassol attacked: Negueba received in front and finished inside the area. Then, the same player came back on the left, forcing Hugo Souza's save, while on the rebound Lucas Ramon shot over the top.

Then, Corinthians began to organize and, at six minutes, Matheus Bidu tried to combine with Gui Negão on the left, but the play did not result in a goal chance. In the next attack, it was Breno Bidon's turn to lead and pass the ball to Gui Negão, but the shot was blocked by the opposing defense.

Then, at 12 minutes, Matheus Bidu crossed from the left to the area, Yuri Alberto stretched his body to reach the ball and was knocked down by Reinaldo. After consulting the VAR, the referee awarded a penalty, which Maycon took and converted, making Corinthians 1 x 0!

Even ahead on the scoreboard, Corinthians continued pressing. At 19, Breno Bidon activated Matheus Bidu, who crossed from the left. The ball passed through the entire area until it reached Matheuzinho, whose shot hit Yuri Alberto, who was lying inside the area.

Mirassol reacted at 22 minutes, when Negueba started in the middle and the team won a corner, with Jemmes heading out. In the next move, Negueba escaped again and enabled Guilherme Marques, whose finish was blocked. The People's Team responded and, at 24, Matheus Bidu escaped on the left and crossed to Breno Bidon, who alone in the area failed to finish accurately.

The team from the interior tried to attack again at 30, with a free kick taken by Danielzinho, leaving João Victor face to face with Hugo Souza, in a great missed goal chance. Three minutes later, Reinaldo took a free kick from the right, with Cristian heading and the Corinthians defense clearing the danger.

The final minutes of the first half maintained the alternation of the teams in attack, with José Alvo and Negueba missing chances for Mirassol and Yuri Alberto failing to finish after being activated in attack. Matheuzinho also had a good chance, at 46, when he took a low free kick, close to Walter's right post.

In the final minutes, Mirassol pressed for the tie, returning to attack twice: Negueba had a shot blocked by Matheuzinho at 48 minutes and Jemmes shot wide after a free kick at 50. However, Timão maintained the advantage, going to the break winning by 1×0.

Second half

The visitors returned from the break attacking: in the first minute, Reinaldo escaped on the left and passed to Carlos Eduardo, who crossed to Guilherme Marques - but the finish was not good. Then, Jemmes escaped from the marking, passed by Martínez and, in the dispute with Matheuzinho, touched too hard and lost the ball on the arrival to the attack.

Corinthians responded quickly: at four minutes, Matheus Bidu turned the game on the left and found Martínez inside the area. The midfielder controlled and shot with his left foot, with the ball deflecting off Reinaldo before going out for a corner.

After a few minutes without key plays, Negueba took a free kick for Mirassol at ten minutes, stamping the barrier; on the rebound, he tried a second finish. The ball was alive inside the area, forcing Hugo Souza to touch for a corner. Shortly after, the team returned to attack with Chico da Costa, but the move was poorly exploited.

At 16 minutes, assistant Lucas Silvestre decided to make the first changes in Corinthians: putting André and Vitinho in the game in place of Martínez and Gui Negão.

Mirassol returned to attack: at 17, Reinaldo shot from long distance and Gustavo Henrique blocked in the middle of the way. Shortly after, at 21, Carlos Eduardo appeared in the area after a cross and tried to head at the alvinegro goal, but Maycon deflected. Then, Reinaldo invaded the area after a table and shot hard, but the ball went out on the side.

The People's Team reacted. At 24, Matheus Bidu escaped on the left and crossed to Yuri Alberto, but Jemmes anticipated and prevented the finish. Shortly after, however, he would have another chance: at 26, the left-back combined with Maycon and activated Vitinho inside the area for the number 9, who first extended the score in Itaquera: Corinthians 2 x 0!

Immediately after the goal, at 27 minutes, another change occurred in Corinthians, with Memphis entering the field in place of Breno Bidon. As soon as he entered, the number 10 had a chance to score, after Timão set up a counterattack in a blunder by Guilherme Marques with the ball and Yuri Alberto crossed from the right - but the Dutchman failed to make the deflection.

Mirassol responded at 32, when the ball fell to Matheus Bianqui at the entrance of the area; he dominated, adjusted his body and shot dangerously, but the finish deflected before going out over the end line. The athlete tried again minutes later, but was disarmed by the defense before finishing.

The Alvinegro returned to attack at 37 minutes: Memphis received a beautiful deep ball from Matheus Bidu, controlled inside the area and prepared the shot, but was intercepted at the decisive moment. Then, the last changes were made in the team: Angileri and Ryan came in the places of Matheus Bidu and Vitinho, the latter injured.

At 43, the visitors returned to attack, in a free kick by Reinaldo that Gustavo Henrique cleared well. Then, Daniel Borges advanced on the right, but Chico da Costa lost control after truncated passes in midfield. Corinthians responded in a play by Ryan, who combined with Memphis and tried to launch Yuri Alberto, but the move was intercepted.

In stoppage time, Mirassol tried to press, but the finishes by Daniel Borges and Danielzinho did not find the alvinegro goal. Who ended up scoring, in fact, was Timão: at 49, Yuri Alberto stole the ball in the midfield, advanced and, between two markers, passed the ball to the young André, who finished and gave the final numbers to the score: Corinthians 3 x 0!

Next commitment

Now, Corinthians will play again only after the FIFA date, on the next day, October 15, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), when they will visit Santos, at Vila Belmiro, for the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship.
