Fredrik Aursnes is fit again after a month out with a muscle injury and is targeting the Sporting v Benfica derby at Alvalade, having returned against Nacional.

Record writes that the midfielder is eyeing a return to the starting XI, though José Mourinho and his staff will decide whether he can handle 90 minutes.

Even if he does not start, he is all but certain to be named in the squad. Alongside Leandro Barreiro, he remains a central option in Benfica’s midfield.

Benfica resumed training on Tuesday, 14 April. Selection issues persist, with Richard Ríos managing a traumatic injury and Tomás Araújo racing to overcome the muscle problem that has sidelined him since 6 April.

This season Aursnes has played 44 competitive matches for Benfica, 23 in the Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,648 minutes he has scored four goals and supplied eight assists, and he is valued at 17 million euros.
