Ayrton Lucas says Flamengo squad felt sad for Lucas Paquetá before first goal in return

Lucas Paquetá had plenty to smile about as his first goal since returning helped Flamengo beat Botafogo 2-1 in the Carioca on Sunday, with Ayrton Lucas outlining the dressing-room response to his early form.

"He is a cheerful guy, he arrived and adapted quickly. We were sad he did not have a good start in his first games, but we know he has a lot of quality. With this first goal, we are sure he will help us a lot," he told Flamengo TV.

The opener came after Bruno Henrique’s pass at the edge of the area, Paquetá meeting it first time and guiding the ball into the left corner past Botafogo goalkeeper Neto.

Before the State Championship semi-finals, Flamengo play in the Recopa on Thursday 19 against Lanús in Argentina, with kick-off at 21:30 Brasília time.

After that, they face Madureira in the State Championship semi-final.
