After Uli Hoeneß's public statements about sporting director Max Eberl last week caused a stir, former Bayern Munich player Markus Babbel criticised the honorary president.

"For me, Uli Hoeneß is the biggest problem for FC Bayern," said Babbel, who ranted on the talk show ‘At Broski - Die Sport-Show.’

“You don't speak ill of your employees publicly—such things should be resolved internally. In the private sector, you would be fired for such behavior! I find this indecent of Uli Hoeneß.

“The problem isn't Max Eberl. It's brutally difficult for him to work well because he's constantly being bombarded with distractions.

"After Uli Hoeneß's performance, he's also been accused of technical errors,” said the 53-year-old who made over 182 appearances for the Bavarians.

Hoeneß, who criticized Eberl on SPORT1, said he needed to learn how to distribute workloads and was "sensitive" to controversies.

“He has made tremendous contributions and was the most influential manager the club has ever had,” said Babbel, to give Hoeneß some credit.

"But he's only on the supervisory board now. I would have liked to have seen him if someone had spoken about him like that back then," the former Bayern star noted.

“I find it hard to see who has the final say at Bayern. When you have a CEO like Dreesen, a president like Hainer, and a sporting director like Max Eberl, I assume that these three make decisions together.

“But it's clear that this isn't the case — the decisions often come from the Tegernsee [Hoeneß' home] environment,” he concluded.
