Fans of Barcelona have on Thursday evening made well known their absolute bemusement with the standard of officiating in the club’s latest outing.
This comes fresh off a shock result for the Blaugrana.
Hansi Flick’s troops made the trip to Spain’s capital a short time ago, for a Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg meeting with Atlético Madrid.
And when all was said and done, it was the latter who emerged on the right side of a head-turning 4-0 scoreline.
Safe to say, though, that as much did not come without its controversies along the way…
Barcelona were left feeling aggrieved by a number of high-profile decisions across the 90 minutes.
Specifically, the Catalans saw a goal of their own disallowed early in the 2nd-half (following a seven-minute long VAR check), before Giuliano Simeone escaped a red card for a dangerous challenge on Alejandro Balde.
On the flip side, late on, Eric García saw a yellow card upgraded to a red for Barcelona.
Widespread protests have in turn since come pouring in on the part of the Blaugrana faithful, many of whom have gone as far as to point towards what they consider ‘corruption’ at the Metropolitano.
