Barcelona captain has already hinted at a possible departure this summer – Report | OneFootball

There are several players in this FC Barcelona squad whose futures are subject to quite a lot of uncertainty this summer. This is particularly the case with the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Andreas Christensen, as both these players have their contracts ending at the end of this season.

Meanwhile, another player who would once again be facing an uncertain summer is the defender Ronald Araujo. The Uruguayan still has several years on his contract, but according to Diario AS, he has already hinted at a possible departure this summer in recent meetings with some of his teammates, including the likes of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.

As things stand, Hansi Flick considers him to be a role model for the youngsters, and is very happy with his work as a captain of the dressing room. However, this has not translated into more minutes on the pitch, as the German coach prefers Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia, and Gerard Martin ahead of him for the center-back positions. He could still play as a full-back, but this is not an ideal position for the Uruguayan.

In such a context, it remains to be seen whether he would continue at Barcelona for the next season, or would look for another side, after representing his Uruguayan national team in the World Cup. Furthermore, his situation can worsen further this summer if the Blaugrana side lands another high-profile center-back from the market.
