Barcelona have continued their strategy of investing in young talent after securing the arrivals of Tenerife duo Jony Hernandez and Juan Ybarra, with both players set to strengthen Barça Atletic ahead of the new campaign.
The Catalan club have announced that they have reached an agreement with Tenerife for the transfer of Jony Hernandez, one of the most promising talents to emerge from the Canary Islands in recent years after Pedri. He has signed a contract until 2030.
According to SPORT, the deal is worth around €500,000, although the final amount could increase through performance-related bonuses.
Furthermore, Tenerife have also negotiated a 25% stake in any future sale of the winger, ensuring they maintain an interest in his long-term development.
As per the outlet, these two operations have been carried out so swiftly because Barcelona president Joan Laporta shares a great working relationship with Tenerife’s biggest shareholder, Rayco Garcia.
At 18 years of age, Jony Hernandez represents another investment in youth and potential for Barcelona.
The young attacker is recognised for his technical ability, creativity and versatility in the final third.
Predominantly a left-footed winger, he is equally comfortable operating on either flank, giving coaches additional tactical flexibility.
Barcelona believe his profile sits well with the club’s footballing philosophy and see him as a player capable of thriving within the Barça Atletic environment.
As per the outlet, the agreement could also include movement in the opposite direction, with some Barça Atletic players potentially heading to Tenerife.
Alongside Hernandez, Barcelona have also completed the signing of midfielder Juan Ybarra.
The 22-year-old joined Tenerife from Rayo Vallecano last summer and established himself as an important figure within the team.
Ybarra featured in 32 of the club’s first 33 league matches and was only forced out of action towards the end of the campaign because of a muscle injury.
In his 32 league appearances, he scored 13 goals and provided four assists.
