La Liga giants Barcelona have late this week been afforded fresh hope of landing a high-profile transfer target on loan this summer.

This comes amid confirmation that Manchester United are increasingly opening to the possibility of allowing Marcus Rashford to depart on a temporary basis.

The name of wide-man Rashford has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last couple of weeks.

This comes after the 27-year-old’s agent was spotted in a hotel in Barcelona, awaiting a meeting with Blaugrana sporting director Deco.

Barca are understood to have identified Rashford as their priority backup target, amid struggles in finding a deal with Liverpool for priority target Luis Díaz.

To date, however, negotiations with Manchester United have proven a chore.

The Red Devils had to this point remained adamant that Rashford would only be allowed to depart on a permanent basis this summer.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from Spain this weekend is anything to go by, this stance appears to have softened.

As per a report from Diario Sport, citing information from ESPN:

‘Manchester United are beginning to open to favourable formulas to place Marcus Rashford in this summer market. The English club were only considering leaving him through a transfer of around 40 million euros but now they are opening the door to a loan.’
