Barcelona are gearing up for a big game at Spotify Camp Nou next week as they take on Eintracht Frankfurt.

This game will mark the first time the Champions League returns to the iconic stadium after more than two and a half years.

However, amidst the excitement of the European return, the club has had to crack down on security to protect the atmosphere.

Barcelona crack down on illegal ticket sales

As reported by SPORT, Barcelona have identified approximately 100 members (socios) involved in the illegal resale of tickets for Tuesday’s match.

These cases were caught through daily analysis of ticket sales. The details have been passed to the Disciplinary Committee, which will now decide on the sanctions for each member found to be selling their seat to rival fans.

Barcelona, after all, will be well aware of the fiasco of 2022, when Eintracht Frankfurt visited the stadium in numbers.

During that Europa League match, several thousand Eintracht Frankfurt fans took over the stands, almost making Camp Nou look like an away stadium.

To prevent this, Barcelona launched a special operation, making all tickets available exclusively to club members.

Despite this, some have tried to profit from the high demand. Barcelona have warned that ticket scalping endangers the safety and well-being of other fans.

To ensure the stadium remains Blaugrana, Barcelona have put strict measures in place, including increased security personnel, ID and visual checks at the entrances and coordination with local authorities.

It remains to be seen whether or not implementing these steps truly leads to a reduction in ticket resales, which are a problem for almost every top European club, but perhaps more so for Barcelona right now, given the growing demand for fans to visit the re-opened Camp Nou.
