Barcelona head into a crucial phase of the season with renewed optimism, and much of that confidence revolves around Pedri

The midfielder has endured a stop-start campaign due to injuries, but as the decisive stretch approaches, he is finally back to full fitness and ready to make an impact.

Right now, with his fitness restored, Barcelona have a player capable of dictating games, and as they prepare to take on Rayo Vallecano, Pedri could be set to feature against one of his favourite opponents.

As such, the Spaniard has enjoyed facing Rayo in recent seasons, having already scored three goals against them, matching his record against sides like Girona and Levante.

Handle with care

One of his standout performances came in May 2024, when he delivered a brilliant brace in a 3-0 victory at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

Prior to that, he had already found the net in Vallecas, playing a key role in a 2-1 win.

Pedri now arrives for this clash on the back of a demanding performance in Europe.

He completed the full 90 minutes in Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Newcastle, showing clear signs that his physical condition has improved significantly.

For a player who has struggled with continuity this season, that outing was an important step forward.

In fact, game time has been carefully managed throughout 2026. Pedri has only completed the full 90 minutes in four of Barcelona’s matches this year.

Now, the key decision rests with Hansi Flick. With multiple competitions still in play and the schedule intensifying, rotations remain a strong possibility

However, given Pedri’s form and his track record against Rayo Vallecano, it would not be a surprise to see him play a central role once again.
