The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have been dealt a blow in their ongoing efforts to add to the club’s attacking ranks.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have confirmed that, for the time being at least, Barca have missed out on Marc Domènech.

Domènech, for his part, is fresh off a stellar campaign at youth level with RCD Mallorca, which saw the 2006-born starlet rack up 21 goals in group III of the Youth Honor Division.

And such exploits, it is understood, proved enough to pique the attentions of a whole host of clubs across Spain.

It is the aforementioned Barcelona, though, whose interest proved most concrete, with the brass at the Camp Nou having identified Domènech as the ideal replacement for Marc Guiu, who recently joined Chelsea.

The Blaugrana, in turn, went as far as to table an opening bid for the 18-year-old’s signature.

As much was quickly rebuffed, however, with Deco and co, on Friday, having been dealt a further blow in their pursuit.

‘Marc Domènech has renewed his contract with Mallorca , ruling out the interest of the Catalan club.’

After being afforded a chance to train under the watch of new Mallorca first-team boss Jagoba Arrasate this week, Domènech has committed his future to the Bermellones through the summer of 2029.
