Hector Fort left Barcelona in June on loan to Elche, hoping to further his development playing for a team that employs a largely similar style to his parent club.

His start to life for Eder Sarabia’s side, moreover, was stunning as he racked up two goals and as many assists for the club until the end of 2025, when he suffered a shoulder dislocation against Rayo Vallecano.

Fort’s strong performances for Elche, in fact, had gone as far as to convince Barcelona that he must be a part of their plans for the 2026-27 season, particularly because of his development and maturity. His injury, however, left his future uncertain once more.

Plan largely unchanged

As confirmed in a recent update by AS, Fort’s relatively long-term injury has not changed Deco or Barcelona’s plans regarding his future.

The Catalans want to keenly monitor the 19-year-old’s return from injury, fitness and how he finishes the campaign with Sarabia’s side, and they continue to value his talent.

He was pushed to leave the club to garner minutes under his belt and prove his worth to the management, and he is on a good track on that front as it stands.

Based on what the club see, they see him to be fit to return to the club and compete with Jules Kounde at right-back.

It remains to be seen when the youngster returns to the field after recovering from the surgery he underwent, but Barcelona will hope he can pick up right where he left off.

So far this season, the teenager has made nine league appearances and three Copa del Rey appearances for Elche. In La Liga, he averages over four defensive actions and 1.6 ball recoveries per game.
