Barcelona are champions of Europe once again after a stunning second-half performance saw them thrash OL Lyonnes 4-0 in the Women’s Champions League final in Oslo.
The victory secured Barça’s fourth European crown and served as perfect revenge after previous final defeats to the French giants. While Lyon looked the stronger side in a tense and physical first half, the game completely changed after the interval as Barcelona took control in ruthless fashion.
Lyonnes thought they had taken the lead before the break when Lindsey Heaps found the net, only for VAR to rule the effort out.
Barcelona goalkeeper Cata Coll was also crucial throughout the contest, producing several important saves to keep her side level during Lyon’s best moments.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the second half when Patri Guijarro surged forward before setting up tournament top scorer Ewa Pajor, who calmly finished. Pajor then grabbed her second of the night after being gifted a chance by Salma Paralluelo.
As the French side pushed forward in search of a response, gaps began to open at the back and Barcelona took full advantage. Salma rounded off the win with two late goals in stoppage time, completing a dominant display and sealing another memorable European triumph for the Catalan side.
