Barcelona star sits out pre-season training to complete transfer away | OneFootball

Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen was a notable absentee from the latest pre-season training session held by Hansi Flick and his staff on Thursday.

This comes with the German having been given permission to put the final touches on an imminent departure from the club.

Shot-stopper Ter Stegen has of course long been expected to complete a 2nd successive loan move away from Barcelona this summer. After spending the 2nd half of last season plying his trade with Girona, the 34-year-old has spent recent weeks locked in negotiations with Dutch heavyweights Ajax.

Ter Stegen did return to base at the Ciutat Esportiva earlier this week, to undergo routine medical tests and begin pre-season training.

But as alluded to above, the former Borussia Monchengladbach standout was this morning informed that he would not be required to take part in training.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘There is an agreement between Ajax and Ter Stegen, there is reportedly an agreement between Barça and Ter Stegen, and all that remains is for the player to give the green light to tax matters.’

An official announcement regarding the transfer could in turn be forthcoming as early as this weekend.
