The latest 2-1 win against Atletico Madrid in La Liga could prove crucial for FC Barcelona, as the three points gained from this match allowed the Blaugranes to go seven points clear of Real Madrid on the league table, with only eight games remaining in the campaign.
Incidentally, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, three players with their futures highly uncertain at the Catalan club made the difference in this match and got the win for their side, i.e., Marcus Rashford, Robert Lewandowski, and Joao Cancelo.
The 28-year-old Englishman scored the first goal for Barcelona, which allowed them to go into the half-time break on par with their opponents. His loan period is ending at the end of this season, and the Blaugranes are yet to decide on whether they should exercise the €30 million purchase option on him.
Robert Lewandowski scored the second, and winning, goal for the Catalan side in the last few minutes of the game. Thus, he was also decisive, despite being on the pitch for only a short period of time. His contract is also expiring at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen whether he will continue at Barcelona for another season.
Similarly, Joao Cancelo also put in an impressive performance in this game, and it was his trickery and shot whose rebound fell to the Pole and ended up being the winning goal for Barcelona. His loan is also expiring at the end of the season, and the Blaugranes would have to negotiate with Al-Hilal to get him permanently.
Thus, all these three players made a strong case for their extended stay at FC Barcelona in this game, but they still have several more matches to play and continue impressing the Catalans before their futures can be definitely sorted out.
