Bayer Leverkusen vs Wolfsburg: Team news and predicted line-up | OneFootball

Relegation-threatened Wolfsburg travel to the BayArena to face top-four candidates Bayer Leverkusen. 

Leverkusen sit comfortably in sixth place, having an eight-point gap between them and seventh-placed Eintracht Frankfurt. Kasper Hjulmand’s side were held to a 3-3 draw by rock-bottom Heidenheim in their last match. Malik Tillman and Patrick Shick’s first-half strikes doubled the visitors’ lead, and the virtually relegated outfit made a stellar comeback soon after the break to level the scores. With just 21 points remaining to grab this season, Die Werkself are hoping to make one final charge for a top-four finish, as it will well within reach. 

Hjulmand will be without the services of Arthur and Lucas Vázquez for this game. Liverpool loanee Jarell Quansah sustained a thigh injury in the Heidenheim match and, therefore, will continue his recovery from the sidelines. Midfielder Aleix García is suspended for this one. 

Die Wolfe are entering dire times as they sit 17th in the league standings with 21 points across the board, five points away from safety. Seven games remain in this season’s Bundesliga, and they will hope at least to set up a relegation playoff clash even if they fail to secure outright survival. Wolfsburg’s last win came in January against St. Pauli, a team they are currently trailing by three points. Since then, the Lower Saxony-based side has gone ten matches without a single victory. 

Head coach Dieter Hecking will miss Kilian Fischer and Rogerio due to their respective injuries. Moritz Jenz will also be out of the clash after picking up a suspension in his previous outing. Saël Kumbedi and Joakim Mæhle could start on the flanks. Jonas Wind is expected to lead the attack with Napoli loanee Jesper Lindstrøm and Mohamed Amoura behind him.
