Bayern board make decision on Nicolas Jackson, despite Kompany view | OneFootball

Vincent Kompany is understood to have preferred to keep on-loan Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson at Bayern Munich, though the club’s board have deemed the transfer too expensive.

Jackson joined Bayern on loan from Chelsea last summer and has scored 10 goals in all competitions for the German champions.

The 24-year-old has primarily operated as deputy to Harry Kane, where his performances have impressed head coach Kompany.

Bayern have decided against triggering the £70m option to sign the Senegalese striker permanently, with the Bavarians deeming the deal too expensive. That decision comes despite Kompany’s preference to retain his services.

Former Bayern Munich midfielder Lothar Matthaus told Sky that Kompany is ‘convinced’ by Jackson and ‘would have liked to keep him in Munich’.

“Kompany is convinced of Jackson’s abilities and would have liked to keep him in Munich, but he’s too expensive. Kompany has made it clear internally that he would like to keep Jackson, but obviously at a certain price that Chelsea might not accept.”
