Bayern Player-by-Player Review: Young Forward Assomo Turns Heads | OneFootball

FC Bayern wins its friendly match against Jeju SK in South Korea, 2-1. The Bayern stars in the FCBinside player ratings.

Jonas Urbig: Was powerless to prevent the goal that made it 0–1. Didn’t have much else to do. Came off his line alertly a few times and was confident with the ball at his feet. Grade: 3.

Vincent Manuba: The 21-year-old started at right back. Showed a few technical uncertainties and rarely got involved in the attack. Visibly struggled with his stamina toward the end in the intense heat. Was subbed out after an hour. Grade: 4.

Minjae Kim: Kim is a superstar in South Korea, but he looked out of place on the 1–1 goal. His opponent outmaneuvered him with a spectacular rainbow flick and then set up the goal for the hosts. Later, however, Kim made a good sliding tackle and was cheered by the fans for it. After just 35 minutes, Kim was substituted for Vincent Kompany. Grade: 4.

Filip Pavic: Let his opponent get away from him once, but otherwise put in a solid performance. Grade: 3.

Hiroki Ito: He miserably squandered a chance to make it 2–1 when, completely unmarked from five meters out, he sent the ball over the crossbar. He then nearly scored an own goal when he headed the ball over the rushing Urbig—but the ball went wide of the post. A shaky performance from the Japanese player. Grade: 5.

Joao Palhinha: No longer has a future at Bayern, but started the game—likely to showcase his skills to other clubs. Set up Assomo’s goal to make it 2–1. The Portuguese player was otherwise solid. Grade: 3.

Tom Bischof: Was active in central midfield and tried to contribute a lot to Bayern’s build-up play. Grade: 3.

Guido Della Rovere: The Bayern prospect was fairly inconspicuous in midfield. Grade: 4.

Felipe Chavez: Put Bayern ahead 1–0 with his low shot. Was also quite active in Bayern’s offense otherwise. Grade: 2.

Bara Sapoko Ndiaye: His contract with Bayern isn’t finalized yet, but the Senegal national team player was allowed to play nonetheless. He was very present in the center of midfield, won tackles, and played good passes. Grade: 2.

Bastian Assomo: The youngster made his mark with a great goal to make it 2–1, set up by Palhinha. The Korean goalkeeper had no chance against his well-placed shot. Assomo has shown he could be one to watch for the future. Grade: 2.

Substitutes:

Tim Binder (36’ for Kim): Settled in on the left wing. Showed some decent dribbling, but was otherwise fairly unremarkable. Was substituted out again in the 61st minute. Grade: 3.

Jonathan Tah (61st minute, for Ito): Brought stability to the back line after coming on. Grade: 3.

Sacha Boey (61st minute, for Manuba): Like Palhinha, he’s also expected to be sold. He didn’t have much to show potential new clubs today. An unremarkable half-hour from the Frenchman. Grade: 4.

Maycon Cardozo (61st minute, for Bara): Shot just wide of the left post in the closing stages. Ran a lot and tried to create chances. Had another opportunity shortly before the final whistle but was unable to convert it either. Grade: 4.

Arijon Ibrahimovic (61st, for Chavez): Missed a chance because he turned away from the ball on a high cross. Otherwise, he didn’t make much of an impact. Grade: 4.

Joshua Kimmich (61st min. for Bischof): A composed performance. Delivered a dangerous cross that led to Stanisic’s header chance. Grade: 3.

Nathaniel Brown (61st, for Binder): Remained inconspicuous in his second Bayern game. Grade: 4.

Aleksandar Pavlovic (61′ for Palhinha): One of his shots was blocked. He tried hard. Grade: 3.

Lui Diaz (78′ for Assomo): Came on too late to be evaluated.

Josip Stanisic (78′ for Pavic): Had a good header opportunity, but the goalkeeper made the save. Came on too late to be rated.

Konrad Laimer (78′ for Della Rovere): Came on too late to be rated.
