He knows both clubs like no other: Kingsley Coman, once the Parisian home-grown talent and later Champions League hero of FC Bayern, is following the renewed clash between his former clubs from afar this time – and has now revealed who he is rooting for on Tuesday evening.

The French winger, who left FC Bayern for Al-Nassr last summer, can look back on an eventful past with both clubs. Trained as a youth player at Paris Saint-Germain, he celebrated his greatest successes in Munich from 2015 onwards – including victory in the 2020 Champions League final, when he made history with his decisive goal against his training club.

In an interview with Le Parisien, the 29-year-old now openly admitted that he found it difficult to choose between the two clubs close to his heart.

„Now that I’m no longer playing for Bayern, I say: Go Paris!“ joked Coman – only to correct himself shortly afterwards: „Oh no (laughs). I have more friends at Bayern than at PSG, so I’ll be supporting Bayern on Tuesday. I’ve spent so much time in Munich… Of course I was trained in Paris, that’s my favourite club. But I played ten seasons at FC Bayern and played against PSG so often that I had to get some distance.“

Coman remains PSG’s „nightmare“

Few players epitomise the sporting rivalry between the two clubs as much as Kingsley Coman. He wore the Bayern shirt in nine duels against PSG – more than in any other match outside the Bundesliga. His winning goal in the 2020 Lisbon final, which gave Munich their sixth trophy in the club’s history, remains particularly memorable.

Although he will only be watching the premier class match between PSG and Bayern as a spectator this time, Coman is palpably excited – and makes no secret of the fact that his sympathies still lie in Munich despite his Parisian roots.
