Benfica host Porto in Liga Portugal on 8 March 2026 at Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica (da Luz), with the leaders on 65 points facing the third placed unbeaten side on 58 in a pivotal title race test.
Benfica and Porto are separated by seven points in the table, and Porto edged the last head to head 1-0 in the Taça de Portugal quarter finals in January.
Águias have won their last three league games, beating Santa Clara, AVS and Gil Vicente, though European defeats to Real Madrid broke the rhythm between those fixtures. Porto followed an early February defeat at Casa Pia with a draw against Sporting CP and three straight Liga wins over Nacional, Rio Ave and Arouca.
Encarnados list midfielders João Veloso and Nuno Felix as injured. Evangelos Pavlidis sits second in the league scoring chart on 20 goals and could lead the threat again for José Mourinho's side.
Porto boast the division's tightest defence, conceding eight goals with 17 clean sheets, while Samu Aghehowa leads their scoring on 13 and Alberto Costa has supplied six assists. Águias have struck 51 league goals and, if they control the midfield, their attack could test that back line.
A home win would lift Benfica to 68 points and strengthen their grip on first place, while defeat for Porto would leave them on 58 and cut the gap to seven points. Victory for Porto would take them to 61 and keep the title race tight, while a draw would preserve the seven point gap between the sides.
