Manchester United thrashed Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 on Monday, thanks to a superlative second-half display from the attacking stars.

However, things did not look too rosey for the visitors at the Molineux in the first half. They did take the lead through a scrappy Bruno Fernandes effort but Wolves equalised on the stroke of half time.

The attacking play looked disjointed, and Ruben Amorim’s side looked like they lack a focal presence up top. Joshua Zirkzee was dropped to the bench following an indifferent showing against West Ham United last week.

The Dutchman has one goal in his last four games, and while he excels at linking up play, the Red Devils need a natural-born finisher.

Benjamin Sesko injury update

Benjamin Sesko was that player, but unfortunately for Amorim, the Slovenian suffered a knee injury in the game against Tottenham Hotspur.

He is set to be sidelined for a month, and the hope is he returns just when the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Amad, and Noussair Mazraoui depart for AFCON.

As per Centredevils, there is a positive update regarding the 22-year-old, who seems to be inching closer to a return to action.

The former RB Leipzig ace has returned to individual training and has resumed ball work on the grass.

Amorim needs him very soon

“CentreDevils understands that Benjamin Sesko has returned to individual grass training and is doing on-grass ball work with a coach as he steps up his recovery.

“The 22-year-old is getting closer to a return, with staff happy with his rehabilitation process so far. His addition will be a real boost to Amorim’s side.”

He is yet to start contact training and working with the entire squad, which suggests he might not be ready to start against Bournemouth in a week’s time.

Whether he can make the Aston Villa game on December 21 will be interesting to see. Amorim will be without his AFCON stars by then.
