Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has recorded a series of notable landmarks after his side went top of the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Burnley on Wednesday.
Silva is leaving Manchester City when his contract expires in June, bringing down the curtain on nine illustrious, trophy-laden seasons at the Etihad Stadium.
The 31-year-old has been a revelation since joining forces with Pep Guardiola from AS Monaco for £43 million in 2017 and will attract widespread interest as he enters the final weeks of his Manchester City career.
Match Report & Player Ratings: Burnley 0-1 Manchester City (Premier League)
City remain in pursuit of a domestic treble to give their departing captain a fitting send-off, having lifted the Carabao Cup trophy in March, risen to the summit of the Premier League table this week ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final with Arsenal.
Silva played 90 minutes at Turf Moor as Manchester City held onto a slender lead to go top of the Premier League for the first time since their opening day win over Wolves in August 2025.
By doing so, the 31-year-old became Manchester City’s eighth highest appearance maker with 453 outings in all competitions for the Blues – one higher than the 452 recorded by Mike Summerbee in ninth place.
The Portugal international has also overtaken David Silva (214) to become the Manchester City player with the most number of Premier League wins for the club (215), underpinning how successful his time has been in England.
Guardiola has not shied away from expressing his feelings on Silva’s upcoming departure, going as far as to admit that ‘part of me is leaving’ when asked to react to parting ways with a player whom he has previously vowed would stay with him throughout his managerial stint at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City turn their attention to the FA Cup this weekend as they prepare to take on Southampton in the semi-final at Wembley amid their quest for a domestic treble – with Chelsea and Leeds United facing off in the other semi-final.

The Blues will be keeping a close eye on developments in north London before their next Premier League game away at Everton, with the Gunners facing Newcastle United and Fulham at home before City travel to the Hill Dickinson Stadium next week.
Guardiola has maintained that Manchester City will effectively lose the title if they slip up at any stage between now and the end of the season, underlining the margins between success and failure that could decide the title race.
Silva is long due a rest and could be watching from the bench at Wembley after Guardiola hinted at shuffling his pack in London this weekend, which would give the playmaker a chance to recuperate ahead of next week’s must-win league clash with Everton.
