Birmingham City have been urged to revisit their previous transfer interest in former striker, Che Adams, amid claims that the Scotland international remains an admired figure within the inner walls of St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park.

Blues, of course, have become no strangers in tabling ambitious transfer raids for a plethora of high-profile and, or, talented forward players under the ownership of Knighthead Capital Management, with Adams falling into this particular conversation last summer after his former side returned to the Championship in record-breaking fashion under Chris Davies.

They then backed up a phenomenal campaign with another extremely active summer of transfer activity, with as many as 14 new incomings being sourced on permanent or temporary deals by the West Midlands outfit.

After previously breaking the bank to lure Jay Stansfield back to St. Andrew's on a seven-year contract, though, it was widely reported that Birmingham continued to hold some form of interest in Adams, who had earned a reputation as a certified goalscorer in the Championship through his spells with Blues and Southampton, who he exited on a free transfer 18 months ago after the South Coast side's play-off final victory over Leeds United under Russell Martin.

Whilst Blues have, at times, demonstrated their ability as a strong attacking force in the division, a current position of 14th epitomises the inconsistencies which have come to the fore for Davies' men across their opening 26 league games, although they were certainly back to their best against league leaders, Coventry City, last time out.

It was claimed by Football Insider last month that the 40-year-old would be targeting new blood in his striking department, whilst two of his current options could be set for the exit door between now and February 2nd.

As such, Football League World's Birmingham City fan pundit, Jason Moore, believes that Adams boasts the attributes of a striker which Blues have been crying out for in recent weeks.

It was first reported in the final week of Birmingham's all-conquering campaign in League One that they were plotting an ambitious raid to reunite with Adams ahead of the current season, before conflicting reports continued to surface across the summer.

Football League World then exclusively revealed that a package between themselves and the striker's current employers, Torino, was not financially viable, despite the fact Birmingham had previously agreed a £10m deal to sign Kyogo Furuhashi from Stade Rennais.

It was also stated within FLW's revelation that the £1.75m deal which saw five-goal forward, Marvin Ducksch, join from Werder Bremen, also impacted the club's decision not to press forward with a transfer reunion with the Leicester-born forward at the time.

However, Birmingham Live have now claimed that chiefs at St. Andrew's would not be against a "sentimental signing", whilst Kyogo has been linked with a potential return to Celtic after a six-month spell without a league goal in royal blue and Lyndon Dykes is also wanted by divisional rivals, Charlton Athletic.

Reacting to such developments, Moore told FLW: "Regarding Che, I think him in the Championship is probably what we're crying out for. Someone with pace and power.

"People have this weird thing of 'don't bring back former players'. But, I think it's exactly what we need, and I am all for it," he explained.

"I think we've got to be careful with what we pay and what wages we offer.

"He's Championship-proven, which is what we're crying out for. Pace, power, all that good stuff. I just want us to be careful, because the Kyogo stuff, granted, he's a different type of player, has come back to bite us.

"As long as a deal makes sense, bring him back. I think he could be brilliant for us.

"Bring him back, as long as it's right. But, I am like this with all deals," Moore added.

Che Adams could rekindle his goalscoring touch at Birmingham City amid current Torino struggles

Adams proved to be a bargain for Blues, who acquired him for £2m from Sheffield United, before making £13m worth of profit in his switch to St. Mary's three years later.

The Scotland international famously scored 22 goals under Garry Monk in 2018/19, earning a spot as an EFL Player of the Year nominee, whilst striking a remarkable partnership with fellow cult figure, Lukas Jutkiewicz.

However, given his subsequent career trajectory, which includes 25 goals in 124 Premier League appearances, this would now be viewed as a statement deal.

As Moore said, though, it must be a deal that makes sense from a financial standpoint, given the current form of Kyogo, who is said to be the club's highest earner.

According to Capology ESTIMATES, Adams is earning a weekly wage which equates to approximately £55,500 in Turin, despite only scoring three goals so far this season.

Therefore, a pay cut may need to be negotiated if a potential reunion was to be pulled off, and one which could see the 29-year-old get back to his best in familiar territory.
