FLW rounds up the latest transfer news at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park

Birmingham City are one of the most ambitious clubs in the Championship at present, with Knighthead Capital Management hoping that their funding will soon culminate in promotion back to the Premier League.

As has so often been the case, St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park continues to generate several intriguing headlines, with Blues currently well into their 150th-anniversary campaign under the management of Chris Davies.

The 40-year-old has been responsible for providing Bluenoses with plenty of record-breaking feats during his year-and-a-half in charge in B9 thus far, which included the EFL's all-time record points total of 111 in League One, as well as seeing the West Midlands club break its transfer record to sign Jay Stansfield on a seven-year deal from Fulham in August 2024.

At present, though, the Championship table is as congested as it has ever been at this stage of the season, with Birmingham one of several sides who will believe that a play-off berth can be achieved should they formulate a strong run of momentum at the turn of the year and into the final stretch of the campaign.

A key factor which can aid the fortunes any club endures post-January is, of course, the transfer business which they conduct in terms of incomings and outgoings.

As previously mentioned, Blues have certainly been in the spotlight within the past two years when it comes to their activity in the market. And, with that being said, Football League World provides you with a roundup of the latest goings-on at St. Andrew's.

Chris Davies makes frank Lewis Koumas admission ahead of potential Liverpool, Birmingham City recall

One of the most recent transfer-related headlines to come out of B9 concerns the immediate future of Liverpool loanee and Welsh international forward, Lewis Koumas.

The 20-year-old was one of 14 signings made by the newly-promoted club as part of yet another extremely active summer, as he looked to continue his development away from Anfield after a first stint in the Championship last term with Stoke City.

However, as has been the case with a handful of other signings that were made, Koumas has endured a frustrating loan stint thus far, failing to earn a regular place in Davies' starting lineup, largely due to the stellar form showcased by Demarai Gray and Patrick Roberts on either flank.

There were other suitors interested in Koumas' services in the summer - most notably Hull City and Sheffield United - and, as such, Davies is aware that the Premier League champions could recall the nine-time international and send him elsewhere.

“Lewis Koumas has not played as much as he would want to, he’s someone I have spoken to about his own status and to be fair to Lewis, he did show some really positive signs, but he’s just found himself down the pecking order slightly," he said.

“With Lewis it’s a case of there being good communication between me and him, first and foremost, because that’s the most important relationship. I talk to him regularly. Then that builds out club to club and the agents and everything are involved.

“We brought Lewis here to help Birmingham City win games of football because that’s our number one objective but we also knew that we brought a player in that’s a Liverpool player that they wanted to see develop and improve," the Blues boss added.

“I always say if you’re not playing, I hope you’re getting as much development as you can in terms of training, meetings and coaching, but they all want the game time so if it comes to a point with Lewis, as an example, where he’s not feeling he’s getting the game time, or Liverpool feel he’s not, or we come to a situation, then we would look at it.”

Lyndon Dykes makes potential transfer hint amid Scotland World Cup draw verdict

Another forward who could soon be departing St. Andrew's is 48-time Scotland international, Lyndon Dykes.

The 30-year-old was recruited from Queens Park Rangers last summer and linked up with the likes of Stansfield and Alfie May as Blues enjoyed record-breaking success, albeit his individual gametime was significantly impacted as a result of the aforementioned duo's form.

Dykes has split opinion amongst supporters, despite often being praised by Davies for the mentality which he showcases at the club's EPIC training base and when called upon in games, as showcased by late winners against Bradford City, Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City.

After Birmingham added to their striking department with the signings of Kyogo Furuhashi and Marvin Ducksch, Dykes became the subject of transfer speculation late in the summer window, with Preston North End and Hibernian failing in their aims of landing his signature.

However, after reacting to Scotland's upcoming World Cup draw which was conducted last Friday, the Australian-born man dropped a potential hint over what the future holds.

“I want to be playing games consistently, as much as I can. We're doing really well here at Birmingham and it's been a tough season with the limited game time that I've got," he stated.

“We'll see what happens. There's still a few months until we can start thinking about international football or the World Cup but at the end of the day I do want to be playing, I want to be as fit as I can be going into these games."

It has also been reported by Football Insider that Blues are facing competition from Crystal Palace, Hull City and Wrexham for UCD attacking midfielder, Adam Brennan.

The quartet of clubs are among a clutch of English sides monitoring the 18-year-old, who scored nine goals in 28 games for the Dublin-based side in the Irish second-tier last term.

However, it remains to be seen if Birmingham can utilise their ambitious plans in order to lure Brennan to St. Andrew's, particularly with Palace able to offer European football, whilst Hull have a pre-existing relationship with UCD and even invited the midfielder to train with them in November.
