Boca lose Santiago Ascacibar to hamstring injury | OneFootball

Boca will be without Santiago Ascacíbar for around three weeks after the midfielder sustained a hamstring injury.

According to SuperDepor.com, medical tests confirmed the problem and he will not face Instituto de Córdoba.

The former Estudiantes man asked to come off six minutes into the second half against Unión in Santa Fe after feeling discomfort.

Coach Claudio Úbeda said the midfielder felt hamstring discomfort and signalled to the bench, noting they communicated by sight.

The Basque Ánder Herrera replaced him and appears the leading option to partner Leandro Paredes in midfield for the next match.

Ascacíbar had started every Torneo Apertura match and was in form with goals in his previous two games, his role linking Leandro Paredes, Milton Delgado and Tomás Aranda with the attack. The nearby FIFA window should reduce the number of games he misses.
